Perhaps just an artist's imagination?

The advertisement is pertaining to what? Perhaps it's just a generic rendering of a wringer washer.
Interesting, however, is the combination of aspects of different machines - eg. the left tension release lever is similar to that of my Kenmore. And the insulated body reminds me of the Canadian brand "Connor".

any washer even remotely similar?

Any washers out there that might have been the inspiration for this machine would be great, any ideas would be appreciated. And yes, it was an ad for electric energy in a 1950s better homes and gardens. thanks Bill the drycleaner

While it doesn't scream Dexter, it certainly whispers it, the wringer, especially.
