My wife and I went to North Carolina this week to help out our single mother friend and her 11 year old son who is going thru a rough financial time at the moment. Her dishwasher had died so we bought her a BOL Whirlpool. I got it hooked up and in place then turned it on. It filled, started washing...everything seemed to be working smoothly no leaks etc. Opened it up.....the water is ice cold. Keep in mind this is an very old farmhouse. Went down stairs to see that the STUPID ASS plumber permently hooked it to the cold water line under the floor in the basement. She will have to get him back here to fix it after we leave. I can't I'm 5'5" and this is a basement with very high ceilings. Bottom line it should be common knowledge dishwashers use hot water (unless you live under a rock!!!!) I am beside myself with ANGER towards this plumber!!! GEEZ!!!

there could be a number of factors to why it was not hooked up to the proper water line....

I had a goof from an installer once where the line for the icemaker and one toilet was hooked to the hot water side.....

there have been times where the faucets are backwards.....but the most part, the hot is always on the left.....

Do you realize how many people don't know this, or in reality, can't hook up a washing machine?

and you would think, Hot to Hot and Cold to Cold would be a simple task...

then again, there are times, You get what you paid for!

To be fair dishwashers in most parts of the world fill with cold water. But I do hear you and I might even question if that plumber is licensed (or rather a handy man). He should know whats what, and He should know dishwashers in the US are sold almost exclusively to fill hot.

Well, I'm a plumber and I know bonehead engineers, lawyers, doctors and Indian chiefs. There's enough stupid to go around in every walk of life, so let's not capitalize on plumbers. As was said, could have been a 'handyman'.

Sorry about my rudeness to plumbers

I went back and talked to our friend. Seems the person who ran the plumbing for the dishwasher is a master carpenter by trade with NO plumbing experience what so ever. We have a knowledgeable family friend coming tomorrow morning to correct the problem.

I did not mean to imply plumbers are stupid. Sometimes when I get very upset my mouth takes over and my brain checks out.

Please accept my apologies!!!!

Peace to everyone!!!!
David
