Look for a Whirlpool direct-drive top load or a Maytag Dependable Care on your local Craigslist if you want something truly 'no-nonsense'. I don't like the new Speed Queen model. If she adamantly wants something new, look at the new commercial Maytag, model MVWP575GW. They seem to wash well and circulate clothes well. Here is a video of one in action as filmed by our own Eugene(LorainFurniture).

On your local CL, this guy appears like a used appliance dealer, you might see what he has, look for the most TOL model and for $150 and a 90 day warranty, you couldn't go too wrong. Probably only sells Whirlpool DDs, too.

Gary I would recommend LG - you could check the videos on you tube to see how well they wash and read the reviews. But make sure you take a Warranty because of all the electronics!
I wouldn't touch the newer speed queen given the poorer washing performance let alone the higher price! The older models were great! |
