Per the ad: This stove is in great working condition. I've used all four burners, the clock, the timer, the oven and the broiler. It is super cute, and when I bought it I thought I might buy some oven paint and paint it a fun color (red? emerald green?) But we've decided to go with a boring white stove, so this one is on the market! FCFS, pick-up in Burlington".

My uncle and his partner had this stove in their home for over 30 years. It's basically a GM Frigidaire range (top-performing self-cleaning oven) with corning burners (in this model, designed to work with non-corningware cookware with perfectly flat bottoms).
I think Dick chose this stove because, like James Beard, he was a great cook who didn't like gas, and they both wanted the really great simple styling of this appliance. They kept an already 25-years old 15" L&H cooktop from their old kitchen and installed it next to this stove. I have to report that they used the L&H for 20 more years and did most of their cooking on the fast strong thick-coiled burners. They got tired of the slowness of the Corning burners and the fact that the cooktop was deceptively difficult to keep clean. |

This is a later model and is not a Frigidaire built oven. We found these later ranges where Corning built the whole range not nearly as durable in the oven area.
Like all real Corning top ranges you could use any really good FLAT cookware on the top, but this range was still really designed to use the ground flat Corning Cookmates for best performance on the thermostatically controlled top elements. John L. |
