I'm wondering if any of my USA / Canadian friends can help. I have an English Electric dryer that is based on the Westinghouse space mate design. Mine needs new felt seals they are like two large strips of felt stitched to form two large hoops that sit front and back of drum, held taught by large long spings.

If there's any new old stock in your area can you let me know and I'll see about buying them and getting them posted to the U.K.

Thanks in advance.

Ps if I could get just strips of felt I could make them!

Richard

that is a really beautiful English Electric clothes dryer Ricky!!. I love the fact that English Electric had a licensing agreement with Westinghouse...I like English Electric's version of Westinghouse's FM 81 Food Mixer as well!!! I would love to see pictures of any other Westinghouse designed English Electric appliances too! As Betty Furness' British counterpart might say....... You can be SURE if it's English Electric! Felt Drum Seals For an Early WH Space-Mate

Hi Richard, my parents first dryer was a 57 WH SM, and I know the seals were pretty worn out in 2-3 years as my Mother was using scraps of felt to patch up the worn through areas.

I will look around and see if I have the seals for one of these dryers, but I do think one could make them or adapt them from another dryer.

I will be in the UK on the 25th-27th of May, hopefully I may see you. If I can find seals I could bring them along.

I made seals for a Frigidaire once out of leather

It was makeshift, but it worked.
