Hi all,
I have my suspicions, but what was the best selling automatic washing machine/dryer by decade? Do we have any sales numbers to back it up, comparison wise? Just curious. I'm going to guess the 1930's was Bendix. I know Kenmore would be up there for a number of years... So... What would be the best selling washer/dryer of each decade? 1930s: 1940s: 1950s: 1960s: 1970s: 1980s: 1990s: and while I know it isn't "Imperial" for the sake of discussion... 2000s: 2010s: Thanks! |

Will, I'll bet in some of those issues of Electrical Merchandising here in the Ephemera library there are stats on sales of automatic washers and dryers.
I'd have to re-read them, but I seem to recall seeing some very specific numbers for Bendix sales in the 40s. I'd have to guess that Kenmore was way up there in the late 50s and 60s, though. |
