With it just around the corner, I need to get a tentative headcount for how much food, booze, Metamucil, and beauty products to get. Hoping for a good number of washkateers for this one!

I would really like to attend! I might see what I can do. It depends upon my schedule and if I can get a decent hotel. I will keep you posted.

Oh, lodging is not an issue

in the Monroeville area, usually. Unless there is a convention that weekend. It's a good size suburb. There is also a hotel at Rodi road and I 376 (parkway east). Still not that far away. Used to be a Harley hotel. (Leona Helmsley)-- only poor people pay taxes. Did she get out of prison before she died?

LOL!

I remember that hotel!...when I worked at the Boron station at the bottom of their driveway in during the summer of 1986 of college.....It's now a Comfort Inn, they host a lot of weddings, so rooms might not be available on weekends

I plan on being there

william637's profile picture
I hope to be there late Thursday night, so if you need help setting anything up on Friday, let me know.

I know I have been saying this for three years, but hopefully one day I'll have a dish-in. Here is a picture from few months ago when my nephew, my dad, and I were working on the crown molding in the dishwasher room. And a few other pictures before I started the molding. Maybe I just need 3 more years to finish (I move painfully slow)

Pardon my ignorance... but what is Metamucil, and what do you use it for?!

LOL Metamucil is

A powder you mix in water and drink to increase your fiber intake...in other words, its a medicine for constipation....

it's something you have to experience in person!

at many events, while most members bring offerings of drinks, food, snacks, utensils and such, detergents, parts or what ever is needed, to help out as the host may need it...

our own infamous NeptuneBob offers Orange Metamucil....one packet, some water, ice cubes, and a shot of vodka.....

and you got yourself a Orange Metamucil Vodka Screwdriver!....

I just bring detergents, but I guess 'anything goes' at a wash-in....what next, tongue depressors?

I usually stick to a traditional FuzzyNavel myself...OJ, Peach Schnapps, and Vodka over ice!

Well, I sure wish I could plan on attending, but two things will probably prevent me from doing so. The job I'm currently doing as a temp may run until the 2nd. week of June, and I also need to go to Mississippi to visit my relatives, including my soon to be 91 year old aunt. Finances won't allow me to do any other travel this Summer if I go there, which I hope to do late June - early July.

Sounds like it would be fun, so hope next year I'll be able to see everyone if one is held then.

For those of us that have been exiled to the desert, please take plenty of photos. PS...How fortunate to be young enough to not be familiar with Metamucil (they want you to call it "Meta Fiber Therapy). Whatever you call it, like a Perry Mason episode, it all comes out in the end...

Same here!

I used to have a couple of friends who were a riot to hang out with, on occasions like this.
They'd wear drag like in Queen of the Desert Priscilla movie, sing bad opera, their outfits trailing out the sun roof, etc. to opera on the stereo.
Once they took a manican to a bar, dressed as a Green bay Packer.
They'd parade through the malls, stuffing hot dogs in manican's under wear too.
They were real carousers. Not I so much, as I worked week ends.

Hello all,

I regret to say I won't make it this year. I thought I would, but now NONE of the students I interpret for at TWO colleges are taking any summer classes due to lack of offerings. So my usual 20+ hours/week steady work is on hiatus until the fall semester.

To complicate matters, the department head at my main campus has decided to 'save' money by laying off ALL the staff interpreters and replacing them with ones hired from an outside agency. As you can imagine, this does not actually save money as agency interpreters cost half again as much per hour as staff. While it appears to be an example of callous indifference, it's more likely an example of cluelessness. As the senior interpreter it largely falls to me to take up the battle to enlighten so we staff interpreters have a job in the fall. In the meantime I'm doing freelance 24/7.

Sorry I'll have to miss you all again,

Jim
