Hello all,

Hope everyone is getting to enjoy the summer. We have good news out of our neck of the woods, in the early part of 2018 after eight years we finally got married, and with the warmer weather we are preparing to host a house warming and reception. We have been working long and hard on getting our home back on track and realigned with our ideas while being respectful of he era of the home as well as the design of it. Two long years and countless wonderful “discoveries” later we are just working on the finishing touches. Thought that everyone would enjoy a look at the kitchen and our project.

Mike

Nice kitchen Mike! I really love the side by side Frigidaire's! My grand parents had one for years just like those two you have. And I rented a couple of apts. in the 70’s that had Frigidaire’s like yours.

And your tile squares floor is great too. Very 50’s!

Eddie

That's a great kitchen! Love the modern design in combination with the vintage appliances.

It looks like you like your coffee too! ;-)

I second the comment about the side-by-side Frigidaires!  That's a very cool touch to a lovely kitchen.  Congratulations on a successful renovation!!

Well first of all, congratulations on your nuptials. And wow, what a kitchen. Truly those Frigidaire's are the focal point. What model years are they? Would love some interior shots! Oh, and great toaster collection too!

Yes, and also

Congratulation's on your marriage! We also were in 2016 after 22 years together.
As we only have a few close friends, and larger families on both sides, we didn't have any big celebration. My father had been declining that year as well, but he was elated that we were finally able to legally do it. Both my parents were very supportive. All four of them in fact.
As we gather often enough with relatives, the best gift of all was being welcomed and accepted by them.
We are also not the only two of our orientation in our families.
One 19 year old second cousin decided last year that she feels more meant to be a male. A very courageous decision to make. Not a journey for the faint of heart to say the least.
I still recall watching Rene Richards on the Mike Douglas show with my mom in 1968 or 69.
She had been born hemorphadite, and the doctors decided to make her male. She said they goofed. She was the first American trans sexual.

Sorry I have not responded sooner, but with party prep and work life was insane.

Let me first say that the Frigidires have been a savor with all the food. However both of them when they came to us, at separate times, needed their start run YT Relay's replaced. I was lucky enough to find two NOS replacement parts from the mid 60's from a local appliance parts house that has been in business for 89 years according to its current owner.

The Goal of the remodel was to maintain the feel and vibe of the house while updating the necessary things behind the walls and doors. We used as many correct surfaces as we could, such as the 12x12 VCT tile on the floor found at the local homedepot and menards. Colors that we liked from the era, etc.

Hidden in the kitchen are a few things that our just for us, such as the counter top between the stove and the side-by-side fridge, there is a 20amp 220vac outlet for my Italian espresso maker and English tea kettle.

It has been a labor of love and insanity. I have been told from day one that a remodel is a true test of a relationship and ours went on for about 2-3 years all said and done. We have, for the most part, closed this phase of remodeling, and we are getting ready to jump into our next phase, the 1960's guest house.

Hope that everyone is enjoying their summer!

Mike
