I just saw this Trane ad in a magazine that shows both Frigidaire and Inglis factories across the street. I also noticed that the SKF factory was very close. It's probably why some Canadian Frigidaire Rollermatic washers had SKF bearings in them.
Now, almost nothing of this not-so-distant past remains and we rely on other countries to produce most of our goods that we can now buy in the same spots where we used to make them... collections.banq.qc.ca/retrieve/6... www.torontoplaques.com/Pages/Scar... www.torontoplaques.com/Pages/Gene... You can see the easy to distinguish roofs of the SKf building and the Rootes building and if I'm not mistaken there's now a Canadian Tire and a Walmart Smart Center where the Frigidaire and Inglis plants used to be. I don't know if the Inglis plant is one where appliances were made but I think that at some point, it was owned by GE. www.google.ca/maps/@43.73... |
