We have this Duo-Matic in the vented electric model and while it is pretty fast I think that only the gas machine would W&D most loads in under and hour.

It is amazing that almost 60 years later that the nearly hopeless combos being sold around the world today don't work nearly as well and most even cost more to run.

We had the last Hi-Speed No Vent model. The powerful fan made all of the difference and a load of sheets would be washed and dried in less than an hour. The wash cycle was  between 30 and 35 minutes so a set of sheets spun at 500 rpm (plus or minus) dried quickly and Atlanta's cold water was always cold for fast condenser drying. Towels took longer to dry, of course. It's just a shame that Ford's quality was not the quality of Bendix.

Year?

What year is the Duo-Matic in this ad, is it a '60?  I have a '61 gas model in transit and the timer is on the right side of the control panel, vs. this one being on the left.

Thanks!

That is a Awsome machine - I love the layout of the control panel - so simple and it has just what you need! I wish they made that type of unit today! It would have really been perfect had it did a 1000 rpm spin!

I think this is the most sophisticated, flexible Duomatic that was made.  Loved the dispensers.  Can anyone explain the washer cycle selector knob the difference between the Regular selection and the Wash n Wear?  Maybe the final spin didn't go into the "high speed" faster spin.  I still think it was a shame they got rid of the Magic Heater.   John, I still remember seeing the comparable model (from a different year) that was in your basement at the 2002 wash-in.  I don't remember seeing it in the museum/warehouse.
