I came across this Whirlpool locally. Can someone identify the vintage for me? I'd like to find something that I can take a whack at restoring. I've restored lots of vintage vacuum cleaners (Kirby, Electrolux, Rainbow, and Eureka mostly), and vintage radios. Now, I'd like to try my hand at a vintage washer! Thanks for any information you can provide!

Early 70s. I think 1971-1972 vintage.

I agree with 70series. There was a laundromat in the area I grew up that was built about 1971 or '72. It had coin-op harvest gold Whirlpools with that same console. The steeper slope of that console was, by far, my favorite of the Whirlpool designs from the '70s onward. Anyway, those commercial machines took a beating and lasted until the mid '90s before they started to die.

I am going to take a look at it on Monday to see what kind of shape it is in. I think 1970 or 71 is about right. I found this newspaper ad from 1971.
