You guessed correctly. This is the first version of the electronic control panel from 1978. The following year or two, they updated the panel. |

She looks to be in good shape. The guy I bought it from had his house appreciate 200% in the 8 years since he bought it, and so he decided to cash out and move abroad. |

What a GREAT find! I love that is "solid state"! My Dad trained as a radio repairman in the army, so he always knew how to fix out old vacuum tube televisions. When he thought it was about time for a new TV sometime in the early 70s, solid state circuitry was being rolled out. He was angry that the vacuum tube circuits were being phased out, because didn't know how to work on solid state circuitry. He searched high and low for a new set that used only vacuum tube. He finally bought a TV at Sears because it was only "50% Solid State"!

You are remembering the TV ad wrong. The Frigidaire sucked down the sock in a matter of seconds and the Kenmore was still working on pulling it down at the end of the commercial. |

The last Belt drive Electronic Kenmore control panel was this pair. The DD Electronic pair used the same control panel while the MFG was changing production of the new washer design.
