I have an older Hotpoint WLW3750BBLAD 2 Speed washer. Works perfectly, but the transmission leaks. I have the new oil seal ready to go in, but how do you get the oil in the transmission? It appears that the machine needs to be turned upside-down, fill the tranny with oil and then put the seal in. What am I missing? This is the heaviest top loader I have ever come across. Solid, and the agitation is amazing.

You're close. Remove the transmission and set it upside down in the inverted basket to work on it.
