Eh, first, when I got it, it was non-working, then I replaced the pump impeller and it did work. But as for performance, I guess it depends of what you expect from a dishwasher! Capacity is OK but this Custom Deluxe has the rear half of the rack split because of the fixed spray tower.
Some more expensive models had a rack-mounted spray tower that would turn with the lower wash arm as the water pressure would lift rubber bellows between both. Again, while this was a good idea to get more rack space, it doesn't work 100% on the older dishwashers I used with that feature. The tower had a tendency to block in one position. This could be bad enough that the detergent wouldn't even get out of the detergent cups as not enough water reached it. I didn't experience this with the Custom Deluxe I have, probably because of the tower that's fixed to the wash arm, or probably because I have not used it very often with large loads! And the Frigidaire "Super Surge" design of 1965-79 doesn't have any kind of filter so it relies on multiple rinses to get rid of food particles. While this mid-seventies model has the plastic door that was introduced at that time, the white tub is still covered with Plastisol. Not as bad as the earlier ones with the plastisol-covered door (those had blue Plastisol). Some earlier dishwashers that looked exactly like this one (the first ones with the woodgrain panel were "S" series from late 1970) did have the blue interior with the metal door. This "4 Level wash" dishwasher does have the spray disc at the top of the tub but not the auxiliary wash arm on the lower wash arm. Later "4 Level wash" dishwashers lacked the disc at the top of the tub but they had the auxiliary wash arm. |
