Hi,

Our washer agitates fine, but gets hung up during the spin cycle. Even once it gets going with some help, it makes a ton of racket and slams back-and-forth when empty.

I took the transmission out.

Here is a video of the brake assembly rotating:

Is this a bad bearing?

Thanks
David

What GE washer is it? Pictures of the machine and model number can help you answer alot more.

It’s a wjsr2070b2ww GE washer and the transmission is WH38X10002

It’s taken apart right now

Likely a bad trans. When these spin they make a loud hollow noise that is a dead giveaway for bearing failure. It'd be easier to know if that's all you have bad if there was vid of it in the machine while spinning.

The disk you are spinning has a good bearing and is not the cause of your noise problem, it sounds like that the basket may be broken loose, normally a bad bearing will make a ton of noise but the tub assembly will not thrash about, but again a video of the machine operating would help a lot.
