So of course there are literally dozens of Flair stoves listed on Ebay and Craigslist, but the turquoise ones are rare. Came across this one on Ebay. It was originally listed last week at $959, "as-is", no returns.

After pointing out to seller how troubling it'd be to lay out nearly $1000 for a fully cloaked appliance described in the vaguest of terms, the price came down to $399 yesterday. But still couldn't convince him to unwrap it or provide additional photos.

The single photo from the Beverly Hills Ebay listing is below:

Seems wrapping used appliances in plastic is all the rage these days...

Looks like

A 1962 Custom Imperial model. Lots of them around. Plus it has a ventless hood attached. Rare.

WHY IS that still-freshly-wrapped after 55-+-yr's????

Well, shucks the last of its kind that mom 'n' pop appliance store couldn't get rid of...

Y'know, everyone in town had an oven that broiled better, and took to built-in's, not to mention, the disadvantages of those roll-out-roll-in burners, and that open platform robbing you of easy access to those cabinets beneath, when needing an important, but forgotten utensil that was hard to duck down underneath to get, even during just a one-burner cooking...

Listing on the loose! Back up to $650 now but includes couple other stoves.

Its a shame, he seems not to realize that turquoise color is his real ticket. Unwrap that thing, put 15 photos up all shiny and bright and it could sell fast and probably at a premium.

Turquoise flare stove

While the turquoise color is rare, it’s easy to paint the sides of the base cabinet a custom color if you want something other than white. The rest of all flair ranges is just brushed chrome and glass and chrome

That stove does not appear to be new, it’s not in the original packaging somebody just wrapped it up, for that price I too would like to see some good pictures of it out of the packaging.

Presentation

Business 101. If the customer can’t see it, they won’t buy it. If I had that on display at my store I’d get $1200 or better for it in a heartbeat. I’d have it lit up and waxed to a showroom shine.

Generally speaking people who want vintage appliances to achieve a certain kitchen look are willing to pay any amount as long as the unit is ready to go. The difference between a $1k+ unit and a hundred dollar Craigslist special is that it’s 100% functional and 100% clean.

I sure wouldn’t buy anything for a grand just to take it home and spend the next week cleaning it, just to find out the clock doesn’t work and the oven is 50 degrees off.
