Hey guys,

I found a free KA Superba. Not sure the model but will pick it up Wednesday. The racks are in terrible shape but the seller said the rest of the machine is fine.

It's a KDS-18

Manufactured from 1976 to 1979. I have the portable version (KDS-58). Among the finest dishwashers ever made according to the experts here. Great save and congratulations!

KDS-18 Is A Very Good DW

But that one has been used hard and put away wet, LOL. While it might still work there will be lots of other things it needs.

A much better DW to own today if you actually are going to use it much is a low mileage Whirlpool Power-clean or Sears Kenmore Ultra-Wash from 1985-1990. These DWs are much better performers, more reliable and easier to repair.

I have two 1987 WP PC DU8000 DWs in my kitchen and for almost 10 years I had taken one out and used a KUDSS-20 KA DW, overall it did a good job but top rack cleaning was never as good. The other issues were poor drying and a nearly constant smell in the machine caused by left over food bits in the sump and filter.

I put the WP back in about two years ago and retired the very cool KA DW to the museum where it will live out its existence on  Earth.
