So, what's the consensus?

I've been using SOS for some time, but grew up with Brillo.  Was out and found a 30 pack of Brillo for the same price as the 18 pack of SOS, so I tried it.  Got to say the pads are thinner than SOS, have not used them yet, but assume they will not hold up as well.  See it's now made by a company in Walled Lake MI, Don’t recall who was the originator of the product.

Neither! I like made-for-restaurant-use stainless steel pan scrubbers. They make very quick work of even the most stubborn, burned-on food and they last for ages.

My mom used S.O.S pads when I was growing up in the 1960s-'70s.

Keep a soap jelly mixture (P&G laundry soap, distilled water and some STPP), that one uses for laundry. Also keep a supply of steel wool pads for household use such as polishing metal, removing rust, etc...

Soap jelly on steel wool pad ='s SOS or Brillo

Does exact same thing and caves one a bit of money not having to purchase special use item.

Works a treat on everything from scrubbing broiler/baking pans to cleaning stove and or anything else one would use SOS/Brillo. Leaves my aluminum pans/pots gleaming!

SOS..

SOS Used them to clean the white wall tires on my parents car as a kid back when white walls existed, ha. Don't cook much anymore, and what I do cook with is nonstick coated, so have no need for them now. But I would still buy that brand if I did.
