Since my sensi-temp burner on my stove doesn't work (burner is completely disconnected), I can't use the plug-in griddle that came with the stove. I've thought about getting one that just sits on top of the burners without needing to be plugged in. However, not sure if it's worth getting or if it's a pain to cook on.
Has anyone had any experience cooking on one of these?

I have a cast iron griddle that fits over two of the gas burners.  It works ok enough.  Sometimes we'll do "Waffle House" at home and I'll get that griddle out and go to town.

Have an aluminum griddle

Fits across two burners, they are fine. Would love a cast iron but the vintage good stuff goes for too much money on fleaPay.

Cooking On Griddles

A cast aluminum griddle cooks much more evenly than a cast iron one, cast iron griddles are used because of durability and are better suited for griddles that remain on all day, but are lousy for trying to make an occasional Sunday morning brunch.

If you plan on using a griddle over two burners on a coil top electric stove I’d recommend aluminum over cast iron. Cast iron retains way more heat and could possibly damage the enamel finish if the griddle was used for very long or on a fairly high heat. Also, I agree with John, the aluminum heats more evenly.

The one in your picture looks like a good choice because there are recessed areas to fit the small and large burners so it will sit evenly and securely on top of the burners. And it looks like its a heavy weight aluminum so it should heat very evenly. I think you will be pleased with how it performs.
