This machine was in regular use since new, first at my grandparent's house then moved to my parent's house about 20 years ago, doing 5-6 loads a week. It recently developed a leak from the tub seal. I tried to remove the tub, and one of the bolts broke off. There was a lot of corrosion, so it was probably too far gone. A friend gave me a similar machine a few years ago with a bad pump that hadn't been used in about 12 years. It has been in my basement as a "extra" for my parent's machine. I checked it and unfortunately it was leaking too.
These machines seem to have a bad reputation, especially for leaks, but this one lasted pretty long. Motor was replaced about 18 years ago. I think the pump was still original. We couldn't find any good older machines locally, so my mom bought something new. The guys delivering the new machine commented on how much heavier the old Speed Queen was. I saved the control panel for a display piece.
Their 1989 GE dryer is still going fine. Only has needed a belt in 20 years.
