I saw this old Westinghouse machine at an estate sale. They have it marked as a dryer, but it's a washer. I don't know much about this machine, anybody have any info. about it? Just curious.

That's the 1958 Top of the line Laundromat.  My "Other Mother" had this washer.  5-wash water temps and 2 rinse water temps.

1958 Westinghouse

I have one that I fixed this year. The outer tub had a flaw and rusted very early in its life. I had the inner tub out and everything looked new. the boot is in pretty good shape for now but we know that is a week link. the only problem I have is the pump drive wheel is hard and it makes a loud noise whenever the pump is engaged. I like the fact that it is all belt drive so no transmission to worry about. If I was closer I would jump on it for spare parts. I have the matching dryer but it needs a little work. I was just thinking of posting pics of the repair, so I guess I should get on that. The extra water temps and dial-a-guild are all gimmick.

Get It!

Tom, go for it! There is so much help and support on this site that we can all help get that machine back to its former glory. Am hoping for the same support for the ‘54-‘55ish Frigidaire washer I just got this weekend...

Please keep us posted — very cool-looking machine!

if

you do get it be careful about moving it -- you have to secure the insides so that boot doesn't tear apart in the move.

I have that machine.Very rare I would grab that those pictures don't do it justice. You would have to be careful with that boot. When mine was shipped from Ny the shipper nearly destroyed the machine. The tub was on its side in the cabinet.I had to put it all back together.Hoping to get it going. Bought the machine for spite after seeing one at Jon Charles house.
