My 1982 KDS-19 has been running damn well for about 2 years, but some intermittent problems with either or more recently both detergent cups not opening. Just ocassionally, but I found a replacement on Ebay and got it today. No Gasket came with it, do I need to buy one before tearing open the front? And are these openers thermal activated metal prongs? How does this work?
I haven't ever taken apart the front, so I don't know what to expect, just needed to know about that missing gasket.
Thanks
MArk

If it is like on my 18 and older models, there are bi-metal  strips that release the doors.
