Well, today I was treating some rust on the wash basket of my Maytag A407 and I accidentally spilled some POR-15 into the bottom of the wash basket. I immediately tried to wipe it up with some denatured alcohol, but a black residue is still there. I think the porcelain has become so porous that getting it out won't happen. Or maybe there is still a lime/calcium film on the bottom that absorbed it?
So my question is this -- has anyone tried using that Rustoleum Appliance Paint to "refresh" the finish on a wash basket? I don't think it would be very durable. |

I repainted the white tub of my 66 Inglis washer with a product called Wite-Coat when I restored it a few years ago. It's made by the same company that makes POR 15; it's meant for sinks or tubs and it's a 2-part formula. It turned out very well but it's tricky to work with. I have also used POR 15 on a badly rusted tub in the past but it looked awful. |
