I have a GE iron like the one in reply #23; it was my mom's. Mine is missing the little ball on the end of the control. It must have come off early on, as I don't ever remember it being there.

Louis, thanks again for posting these ads. Way back in the day, my mother had a Sunbeam Mixmaster, I totally forgot about that!!!!! Among my earliest memories of her kitchen. At some point it quit but she didn't replace it with another, just bought a hand held mixer that lasted years and years. She wasn't one that cluttered her cabinet tops.
My grandmother had a roaster also, the Westinghouse. Growing up I never knew what it was used for.

Barry

I like these vintage Christmas ads. A new Hoover cleaner would still make a nice and useful gift, but with today's gift-giving "standards", unless you've got the keys to a new Lexus tied to the bow you run risk of having the upholstery tool stuck up your nose. Merry Christmas.

The insert having the built-in roll-out was the model that was in the house across the street (my "other mother's" house). The kitchen, and laundry room, had seafoam green color Westinghouse appliances. The only other dishwasher that was ever in the house is contained in the two attached pictures and was in the house working when the house was sold May/June 2013.

I remember one of our neighbors had an early square tube Motorola, with pushbutton tuning. By the time I saw it, it wasn’t a new set, but I wanted to play with those pushbuttons so bad!

Blast from the past... (No Hi Jack intended)

Cigarette Lighters for Christmas. Never knew GE made flameless ones. Zippo was the real deal I remember.

I also remember when if you knew someone that smoked you gift wrapped a carton of smokes for them.

Just jogged my memory when one of my Dad's employees was in the hospital after having a heart attack, (around 1961) he bought a carton of cigarettes for him because the doctor gave him permission to start smoking again !!!
