Hi all,

I don't know why I do this to myself.
I'm really not in a position to bring a second washing machine into the house, and yet I keep looking at what's for sale in or near my area.

After seeing Harley's videos of their "new" belt drive 1978 Kenmore, I started looking at what was out there for Kenmores.
The most tempting one I've run across thus far is an almond colored 80 Series. Really clean looking.
Dual action agitator.
I don't know exactly what year it is, but I would guess late 80s, early 90s, based on similar machines that other members have schooled me on. Probably direct drive?

The story is; the seller bought a house about a year ago, and the washer came with it.
They've been using it, and at some point, the seller replaced the agitator dogs. (I have no idea what they are).
He said it was working fine the last time they used it, but his wife wanted a larger capacity machine.
So, they bought one, and they're selling the Kenmore...for $50.

The positives:
I love the style of the washer, and the almond color.
It's my understanding that they're a very well built, long lasting machine.
It's only $50.

The reasons I have to pass on it:
First and foremost...nowhere to put a second washing machine.
It's about an hour away from here. Which may not seem like anything, but I hate driving.
The seller can not deliver it. It has to be picked up. I have no vehicle that could transport it.
Did I mention, nowhere to put it?

Quick question.
To further torture myself, I watched some YouTube videos of similar washers.
Some comments refer to this dual action design as the "Shredmore".
Is that true? Are they rough on clothes?

Barry

If you only have room for one machine, you could always swap it out for your current machine. I know that wouldn't solve the issue of getting it to you. Either see if a friend who has a truck can go with you to get it, offer to buy him/her lunch for helping out and some extra $ for gas. Or just rent a truck and go get it. Usually Home Depot will rent trucks out.

I needed that.
Between the anxiety over a doctor's appointment yesterday, and waking up with one of my recurring health problems this morning, I needed something to make me smile.
Unfortunately, I'm addicted!
YouTube videos, people's pictures of their machines on here.
And I'm just as bad with vacuums!

Fortunately, this kind of addiction is self regulating due to space constraints,, transportation issues, etc.

Vacuums could be problem however...

Indeed

I have gotten better at self regulating when it comes to vacuums too.
I'm trying to limit myself to a few more specific vintage machines.
Of course, if I see something tempting out on the tree belt, or priced affordably at a thrift store, it still might end up following me home. 😉
