I remember these in the store when they came out, but don't remember who made them for GE.

Hi Greg,

From the Outside, that looks like an Australian Dishlex. The wash system on the inside is the very last that we got here in that style. The first two machines are the Australian equivalent, but a lower spec model.

The Regency VSA brand also sold Australian Dishlex Machines in the US. I've attached a link to where this machine was discussed, this was the earlier version of the same type of machines

Perhaps the machine came from the Italian Zanussi factory, it also being part of Electrolux (Dishlex is an Electrolux brand).

These were made in Australia by Regency and they were terrible, small inside, terrible to load and most of all hard to repair and unreliable we threw lots of these in the crusher.

Hi Rolls,

In AU at least, Electrolux didn’t take over the Dislex brand until the early 2000s. There was still another Australian designed and built generation after this one.

John, these were either made by Vulcan or Email Corp. the Regency brand was Invented to market the same items as a luxury product in AU and to sell them overseas.

The model Greg posted, must’ve been one of the very first with the newer style wash system. They still worked well, but it was the beginning of the cost cutting. Otherwise it’s all what you get used to, for 30 years in AU, you didn’t have a dishwasher, you had a Dishlex. All generations were difficult to service, underneath they are packed full of components, but for the earlier models designed in the 70s it was a flat wash system that gave a tank with huge vertical space. By the late 90s it was falling by the wayside.
