Once Again That Betty Furness

In all her girdled and high heels glory.

Remember you can be sure, if it's Westinghouse!

When you watch these old "live" vintage commercials

Can't get over how many flubs and so forth just go by. Today of course between retakes and editing everything is nearly perfect.

Ms. Furness clearly has some script troubles, but still manages to get the job done.

One small niggle is that Westinghouse waits until end of commercial to explain why Ms. Furness was scrapping food down into sink.

Garbage disposals weren't so common back then that everyone knew what she was doing with that food.

Live local newscasts have plenty of flubs.  Any standards of excellence in that regard have long since given way to ad-libs and poor read-backs off of teleprompters or reporters' notes.
