It was so cheap

I took a chance. Needs cleaning but it's not too bad for 65.00

With the digital clock, my guess would be late 1980's.  It looks good!  I'll pull out some catalogs and see if I can get a better idea of when...

I love it - has everything and is white.

I think it could be as "old" as 1984 though.

Much older I think

At least 75 or before, it has a outlet and the controls are not push to turn

Interesting.  My 1975 catalog includes the surface outlet(s), but the digital clock does not show up until 1976, at which time there were no outlets.

Have you checked the Serial Number?

I'd agree...

flip digital clocks would be more like early-to-mid 70s I'd guess. I'm sure someone knows exactly (oh Johhhn???) Can't go wrong with a GE range from this era Hans!

That was next-to-TOL with only thing missing is a top light; also may be missing a rotisserie setting on the oven control. The chrome cooktop trim and probably a woodgrain handle looks like what my scoutmaster (who worked for GE) bought in about 1976 for their kitchen.

To be sure, you need the first two letters of the Serial Number, those are keyed to the month and year of manufacture.  However, if the Model Number is simply "J500..." it won't be a 1976 or newer as GE began to use prefixes like JBS (standard), JBC (continuous), and JBP (self-cleaning) based on the type of oven.

That type of digital-flip clock does show up on at least one 1976 range (JBP87), so it's possible that it was introduced sometime during the 1976 model year.

Here's a link to the information about Serial Numbers.

Well...An update guys...

I cleaned it up and had Donald bring it in, And looks like my past bad luck with GE stoves is holding, I guess I have finally figured out that , Like Maytag washers, no matter how many times I try, they are just always going to be jinxed!!! LOL, Here are the issues, The light flickers and then goes out, probably an easy fix, The clock runs but the set knob is stripped so you cant set the damn thing, but the biggie is, I tried to get it to self clean,,,,When it kicked on,,it heated about 30 seconds and then a wisp of white smoke emerged from under the fluorescent light shield and click, off it went, the oven will work, but I guess something is fried in the P7 mechanism,,,So, As I have NEVER been able to get a self cleaner to work, "Or a sensi temp for that matter". Its going away tomorrow and my vomicado green 73 Frigidaire is coming in, its bulletproof, and its much better built than the GE,..And of course the 59 Westinghouse is just around the corner in the laundry room,,,This is the 4th or 5th GE I have had and every single one had crazy issues, I have owned 5 Maytag washers including a brand new 84 model,,,All which were more trouble than a ingrown toenail,,,From now on im sticking to what I know I can depend on.
