I have a question about a Maytag washer. My sister-in-law inherited this washer. The washer is an extra large capacity 2 speed matchine. The agitator was a "Shark Fin" type and was missing the softener dispenser cup. I had a Turquoise NON Shark Fin agitator with a dispenser cup. I swapped out the agitator, but I noticed her machine has the "Fast Stroke" agitation. Is this swap of any consequence to the machine or it's cleaning ability. I also noticed that the tub indexes about 1/8" to 1/4" every two to four oscillations.  Could this be because I swapped out the agitator.  Thank you for any answers and advice.

Sounds like you installed a long-arc Power-fin agitator in a short stroke orbital trans machine, it fits but not a good combination.

Here is a blue Power-Fin agitator in an Orbital transmission LATxxx washer.

Why not?

I had this combination for years and it worked just fine for me. The washer is still working. My big complaint about this generation of Maytags is that they had really stingy spray and deep rinses. I had to use the extra rinse on every cycle to get all the suds out.
