I’m working on cleaning up my Frigidaire Filtrator dryer. I decided to keep it 220V. I took the front off and cleaned and greased the roller bearings with white lithium grease. I do need to know how to take the back apart and how to check the ozone light. If the ozone light is bad, is there a replacement available?

Thanks

Do Not Lubricate!

Jesse,

Those bronze bearings on those rollers are not supposed to be lubricated. If you need a new ozone bulb, there is a seller on eBay who has a few for $4.99. If your drum light comes on, then your ozone bulb is good. Do you still have my private email? We're heading to the beach in a few minutes, but I may still have a 1956 Tech Talk I can send you on Tuesday.

I wool have to clean them off again. Would it hurt to put a little Teflon spray on them?

Is it one of those old Filtrators with the big blue porcelain "filter" with all the holes like a giant piece of good Swiss Cheese? They were difficult to clean, especially when the owners never bothered to pull them out and were completely plugged up with moisture baked-on lint.

Front Rollers On FD Filterator Dryers

Should have their bearings and steel shaft cleaned and oiled with just one or two drops of turbine oil. Even though the orignal manuals said that these bearings were permanently lubricated they do need some relucubration after 50 or 60 years.

Actually all dryers that have metal bearings on their rollers and idler pulleys should have a drop or two of turbine oil added every time the machine is dissembled for cleaning or repair.

Dryers that have plastic bearings should get a little dab of lubricant that is appropriate for plastic bearings.
