I don't know much about the older k/a dishwashers and I'm sure someone here will know what model this is.

That's a KDS-18!

Considered by many to be the HOLY GRAIL of Hobart made KA DWs. These are known for their fine build quality and excellent washing action. You are very lucky to find one in this good of condition. If it needs repair few parts are available from Hobart or Whirlpool, but several repairmen on this site may be of help. In my 25 years as a foodservice professional I can say that no dishmachines clean or hold up as well as Hobart. This carries over into the KA machines they made back in the day.

Is that the listing where they're selling a group of appliances as a package deal for something like $800?
That dishwasher caught my eye too. Looks nice.

I contacted the and asked when they are ready to split up the "Package" I am interested in the Dishwasher.

They said sure, but we'll see how that goes.

I think the seller drank too much eggnog for Thanksgiving. This is the response that I received from him.

Hi Dan,

Yes I am willing to separate the items. The price for the dishwasher is $500 but I do have someone lined up for it right now. I will let you know if it falls through.

Best,

Riccardo

Tazz,

Wow. $500 for just the dishwasher?
I know nothing about them, other than what I've read in these discussions.
And I know it's considered a really desirable machine.
But that seems spendy...no?
I'm in Agawam, by the way.

Series 17 and 18 machines over 40 years, they live up to the hype. The price is absurd, other than the one we bought new in 1974 we've paid anywhere from free up to $100 for the most pricey one, they're not all that rare.

$500.00 ???

Have at it. That's absurd. And you don't even know if it's fully functional ? Like a dope I bought a Patrician last fall. Sure did look clean... until I got it home and the motor was seized tight as a drum. Another lesson learned.

Eddie, Eddie..

How did you ever buy a Patrician.. No 180 degree final rinse. Shame on you. And even if the motor was bad, you know I have a load of them in the garage.

If anyone is interested, I am looking to finally give my 18 up for sale. If you are interested, please see the posting in the Shopper's Square.

Yup. I've seen it.
We're a bit up the road from there.
And I was just visiting family in Ludlow for Thanksgiving!
Hopefully, this seller figures out that they're asking way too much.
It would be nice to see someone here get that dishwasher!

They're great machines! I have a KDM-21. Yours is the Whirlpool version after the buyout from Hobart. Should be a little quieter ;-)

So after the $500 price tag he put on the kds-18 I emailed him back and asked if he would take a best offer as his price was quite a bit off mark, he said sure and asked what I was offering. I threw an offer of $100 sight unseen, I never heard back from him. I think I hurt his feelings. So a week later I now see that he's reposted it for $250, I give it a few days and have my wife email him and ask if he'd take a best offer and guess what...... I now have a KDS-18, I ended up paying $150 for it which I would have gone up to if he had haggled with me. I'll get some pics up later this week.

Hey!
Glad to hear that you got it!
I saw it reposted for $250.
I was wondering if you were still watching it.
Congratulations!
