Good evening,
A couple of months ago I picked up a matching maytag 142 washer and 642C dryer set. I have been using the washer as that has been serviced along with my DE502 dryer but now I would like to start working on the 642C dryer. A couple of issues I’m running into are that I need the door seal and cannot seem to find it anywhere, also the bell doesn’t ring when the cycle finishes. The end of cycle bell I can most likely fix however my question is... has anyone tried to make a seal for one of these using a different seal or material?

Bell doesn't ring

On a lot of these old Maytag dryers, the bell only rings on the wash n wear setting.

Unfortunately, the door seals for the HOH dryers like this are long gone. I don't know the part number but you never know - one may surface on eBay.

That’s funny because my DE502 dings on all cycles.
Do any of you think that I can substitute a gasket from another model? I have access to a gasket that would fit my DE502 but before trying it I just curious as to what your thoughts are. I would like to use the dryer as it runs great and also heats very well, but I also don’t want to waste money on something that isn’t going to work.
