re-posting one of my least-liked comments I saw a lot of these Norge automatic dispensing washers. A regular Norge like a Time Line was perfectly fine to work on for resale, but not these. I rarely saw one that didn't require a screwdriver to pry open the dispensers. They were always all gummed up from undissolved powders, by the smell of things, Tide. I guess a lot of owners just gave up on the automatic dispensing. I'm sure had they bothered to keep the compartments clean they would have gotten better service. Other than the big beautiful console light, the models with the clock were my favorite.

In a way, I find having so many dispensers in a top load washer a gimmick. I don't see much sense in a special dispenser to add detergent at the start of the cycle. And from I could see in Joe's photo, it sounds like bleach is also added at the start. I've heard arguments that suggest it's better later on, after the detergent has had a chance to do some cleaning. IIRC, Kenmore added bleach automatically towards the end of the wash period. I also think the Lady Kenmore approach to detergent was better, since the "dispenser" area was fully rinsed IIRC. (Interestingly, my mother never used this feature--she just poured detergent into the wash tub.)
Personally, while such features are interesting for the appliance collector, I find that manually putting stuff into a top load machine by hand isn't particularly onerous. (Particularly since I'm not a "turn it on, and forget it exists until it's done!" washer user.) | ||

The other thing about this ad is how many wash products are mentioned by name (e.g., Calgon, Sta-Puf, etc), and given a little spiel... I'm sure there must have been some deal between all these companies. Nothing unheard of, of course, but this goes further than most ads I've seen, which typically mention only a washer brand, and one laundry detergent, softener, bleach product.
