I wouldn't trade a new set like that for ANYTHING ever made!

This is a rare bird in that this has the Filter-flo design whereby the filter stream shoots out into an agitator-mounted pan as opposed to what was predominantly filter stream flowing into a small pan mounted along the back of the tub. I think I have seen one of this design in a shoppers square for sale craigslist ad. I wonder if GE threatned Norge with a lawsuit.

It just occurred to me

Our 1964 Norge DispensoMat washer was delivered around December 21st-23rd, 55 years ago, 1963. I was driving my mother crazy Christmas morning because I wanted to use the new washer rather than most of what I got for Christmas that morning.

Does anyone else wonder how that photo ever got past a censor?

That model was the real beginning of the large tub models made by many other companies after that. This tub was definitely the biggest for quite some time. LOL It went from a 14 lb. tub to a 22 lb. tub at the end of this era.

I would have been right there with you, except I may have been down the hall, gathering up the 1st load of clothes, and measuring out the detergent, to have it ready!
Hugs,
David

A censor? Back then, that sorta thing was pretty tame...

Put whatever further thoughts in Dirty Laundry, I will, then...

I’ve seen this ad before and I, too, wondered how little Johnny got away with wearing that tighty-whitey!

Am assuming GE had a patent on the filter-flo design...wonder if Norge had one on their burp-up filter system? I recall Hotpoint using the same Norge-type of filter system at one time...

Well David and everyone else, I was known to stand outside a bathroom door waiting for whoever was in there to finish so I could gather up all the towels.

WP/KM 18lb belt-drives in the 1970s era pulled 54+ gals for a Normal or Gentle cycle on a full fill.  Add another 30-ish gals for Perm Press with a double cool down.
