Most machines, regardless of manufacturer, are louder on the slow agitation setting. I have a Maytag A712, which is basically the same as your 806. It's louder when it's agitating slowly, and sometimes there will be a rattling noise that goes along with it, which eventually stops. Ambient temperatures are also a factor. If your machine is located in a garage or basement, you may notice it's slower to ramp up to normal agitation and may be louder before it reaches that stage. |

I have an A108S, single speed, usually very quiet. But SOMETIMES when it's returning suds, there's some unpleasant harmonic vibration between pump, agitator, and the spline that creates a rattle something fierce. Once it gets about 1/4 of the water back in the tub, it silences. I have not found anything wrong, there's just an occasional interplay of motions motors speeds and parts that gets into a loud vibrating Maytag, then it shuts up and washes well!

Goatfarmer, yes it does. It had a leak where the water comes in that I fixed. Dryer needs a new cord. But it washes very well! |

The suds-saver just buzzes loud. That's fine though I don't need it. |

Ok. The gentle agitation eventually makes it shut off, I don't know why. Here is a video of what it sounds like. Anybody have a guess what might be wrong? |

Hi, How long will it operate on low speed agitation before it cuts off ?
If it runs less than a minute and then the motor won't run at all for a few minutes the motor is overheating and cutting off on the thermal overload.
Question : does the washer spin properly on low speed spin ?, if it works on low spin you have a bad bush-button speed selector switch, if it does not work on low spin either you have a bad motor or speed selector switch or timer, check it out.
Maytag washers and dryers always had far more unusual electrical problems than about any other company.
