Just purchased new Speed Queen Mechanical Timer washer. Model # LWN432SP115TW01 with a mechanical timer. It only has one water level as far as I can tell. Very simple controls. Only Temperature, Extra rinse, extra spin, then normal/eco/delicate settings. Very expensive I thought, but after we got rid of our 1980's Maytags and bought a front load LG we were very disappointed. Then I thought well we will just get new Maytags, and they too were not satisfactory. So the online community steered me toward the Speed Queen, and despite the price I think it will work out.My brother told me that I got one of the last machines available that used a full 30 gallons per cycle, and that & the agitator action is why the clothes are coming out so clean.

If you wanted as close to an old school washer as you could get, this Speed Queen was it.

You got the best of the best of the best, and the last of it. These are built to go 20-25 years and are regarded as some of the best and most well known commercial machines.

Awesome. I am thinking of buying one of these and adding a water level switch.

Where did you buy this unit from? Online store?

Bought through a local retailer. He told us that he could only sell this machine to a multi unit housing rental or some sort of registered business. So we started a catering business on paper only in order to qualify for the commercial machine. It worked! We waited about 2 weeks for delivery. Why do you want to add a water level switch. Mine fills to the top with every load.

New Speed Queen

25 loads in and very happy with this machine. Uses lots of water & no residue! Simple, almost elegant. Only minor quibble is that all action, including water fill and agitation stops when lid is raised. Other than that very satisfied.

a clothes pin trick will allow you to see the machine in action with the lid open...

on the back, just above the drain hose....with the lid closed, slip the pin over this flap...easy on, easy off.....

Will the clothes pin fix work on any 2017 Speed Queen top loader? When I finally get my new stuff in the laundry room any machine that doesn't work with the lid open is a party-pooper (no fun) for me.

Yes!

The clothespin trick will work on the 2017! I did it on mine. So easy.

New member here. Been eyeing a new SQ for a few years as my LG front loader has slowly died. Was going to pull the pin this week when I came across the Wirecutter article. So decided to move over to the commercial model. Looking to purchase this version with the electronic controls. Quick questions for the experts:
1) This model is still a true agitator correct? I am weary of marketing speak on the SQ brochure, and my limited understanding of this environment.
2) Poster above mentioned this is the last of the models with a 30gal fill ability? How can I confirm if the one I am ordering this week still has the 30gal capability? Does it matter?

Thanks! Finally glad to be moving to the SQ. Family of 6, 4 teenagers, and the laundry never stops. Needed speed, and CLEAN. Had convinced three other couples to buy SQ, so think I am finally due.

The only way you can still get the traditional model is with the commercial machine shown above. This is with the regular agitator and full fill. If you are getting a digital control machine it will be the newer mechanism with the agitator and tub locked together. Not the same thing.

deltablu, that is not correct. Both the Speed Queen commercial homestyle mechanical and commercial homestyle electric (digital controls) have transmissions with agitators. Both commercial models are not the new style residential units with the agitator bolted to the tub.

Struan, you can buy either
LWN432SP115TW01 - Homestyle mechanical $929
www.appliancesconnection....

LWNE22SP115TW01 - Homestyle electronic - $979
www.appliancesconnection....

You can also get around the full tub fill on both models if you are willing to modify the washer.

Re: 13

I stand corrected. We carry the LWN432 but were told the LWNE22 was not available. Thank you.
