Kevin, I agree, it was good to see Dan too. And yes Todd, where are you??!!! If I'm interpreting the copy of the ad listing, it sounds like this could be the original owners who have lovingly taken care of this set. This was the last year of the keyboard Lady Ks.

Finds from those seeking to move something on for free, but only to a "good" home.

In such situations nearly always found sellers were more than happy to hang on to things until shipping/transport could be worked out. Well that AEG/Lavamat was one that "got away", but still.

Since set is free someone really ought to consider U-ship or another transport. Would be a shame if the usual suspects prowling for *free* appliances (scrappers) got their mitts on this set.

A nice TOL set, and I'm sure the washer has the Quiet Pak as a standard feature.

I hope the owners are smart enough to recognize a junk truck when they see one.

The final Lady K keyboard model like the one that ad has two speeds instead of three. There probably wasn't much difference in the "Knitted Fabrics" and "Delicates/Washable Woolens" in terms of temperatures and speeds.

Beautiful set, and well cared for. I hope they find a good home.

Dan, great to see you back on the forum.

Have a good one,
James

Nice Pair Of Kenmores

combo52's profile picture

These were the final pair of KMs with the heavy cast metal control panels before the dreaded black face KMs appeared.

These were the first LKMs that offered the extra large 25 gallon washer tub and 7 CF dryer drum, both machines were excellent performers, probably the next cloest machines in overall performance would be a set of FD 1-18s, or a set of GEs with the extra large dryer or even a set of Norge, Montgomery Wards TOL machines.

Unfortunately WCI and Maytag could not compete in capacity or performance with the big players in this time period.

Any idea how much this would cost to ship?

But, Very Rare!

daveamkrayoguy's profile picture

Still not a set bought by everyone and their distant cousins... A period of lull looming for Sears Kenmores, or what was everybody washing and drying in?

Gobs of features but too relatively expensive for what was, suddenly then, the current generation of newer, younger, first-time buyers...

A well-kept set, but the answer to an eminent decline in sales did become the newer black-paneled, done more simpler...

(I remember seeing a relatively high-end Avocado dryer, at a now-departed used appliances store, of which its washer-mate would have been scrapped, beginning that next, oncoming, and back to better-, BEST- selling period!)
