I bought my Maytag, A207, avocado washer/dryer set for $200 a few months back and have been delighted at the "upgrade" from my front loader. My clothes no longer smell musty and look cleaner. However, it has sprung a leak. I replaced the injector hose as the appliance service said that was the problem, but it still leaks. Doing my own investigation, it doesn't leak when it agitates with just water in the tub, but does when water AND clothes are in it during agitation. I really want to repair this gem, but due to it's age, can't find info on the web very easily. Any direction would be so much appreciated... I once drank too much coffee and undertook replacing the bearings on my front loader. Though I was successful, it scarred me for life! My husband is a tad alarmed I'm getting so intimate with another washer's innards...

as to where exactly is the water coming from?

you will have to pull the front cover off and watch for when/where the leak appears...

Welcome to the forum!
Just so we're on the same page, can you clarify what part(s) you replaced when you changed the injector hose? Was it a complete assembly with both hoses, the perforated plastic air gap, and the plastic cone and rubber valve pieces? Or was it literally just one of the hoses?

I just did a similar repair on my A408, so you can see some of the photos in my thread here:

(And a quick note since you are new: This forum uses a sort of gallery format for the photos... so if someone has uploaded multiple photos to a post, be sure to click the right and left arrows above a photo to flip through and see other photos.)

Ok, took me a bit to find the info of what i have done thus far...
First repair was part #WP206680 for the Washer Injector Hose Kit. This turned out to have the wrong end where it goes into the hole of the tub. Further web surfing revealed i needed part #EAP2017271. My 13 year old son helped do all the connections and then screw the washer top and front back on. Of course, on hind sight, i should have tested the washer before putting it all back together...sigh...
Fast forward. Put a load of clothes through the washer and at the end of the cycle, discovered significant water on the floor. Took off the front (again) and watched as it filled again. Of note, it seems water doesn't leak unless there's the weight of clothes in the tub! Anyway, i located water running in a small stream under the tub at the stem the tub sits on. I'm sorry, i know I'm really botching appliance lingo...this is all new to me!
So, i decided the seal could be the problem. Also thought it might not be bad idea to change the bearing while in there. I am now waiting for a Mounting Stem/Tub Seal Kit and Washer Tub Bearing Kit to be delivered; of these two kits, i can't locate part numbers - only that they are compatible with my A207. Is #22038313 the correct spanner wrench for my model?
Thanks so much.

You are on the track with the tub bearing and mounting stem and that is the correct spanner wrench too!

Diving in head-first! Good on ya for giving it a go!

If you haven't seen it, there's a great deal of information (and photos) of what lies ahead for you in this thread:
"Rebuild of Maytag Transmission and Transplant into LAT 9800 AAW"

The underside of your machine looks great. If the rest of the machine is in the same condition, yours is well worth the effort for the repairs. Compare it to my A408 for reference of what it *could* have been like. Now is the time to fix the leak, before it does damage like this!

Leaking Maytag

Hi Dave, regarding reply #5, the rust damage to your machine came from oversudsing for many years maybe coupled with a damp basement, NOT from a center seal leak, if your machine had a bad center seal for a long time there would be a heavy black stain inside all four sides of the cabinet.

Thanks John. I meant it more as an example that Gatsby's machine was in good shape and worth the effort, but it's good to have the clarification, especially when people are looking for comparison photos when troubleshooting problems.
