I saw this website for Caloric appliances. It says they only do business in Canada. They have gas ranges, induction cooktops and retro refrigerators.

It says they moved from Topton PA to Canada in the late 2000s. But they must have sold the name because I thought Caloric was part of WP?

Now there's a surprise! So often things are not available to the Canadian market. Not rushing out to anything they have though... LOL

New Caloric Appliances

The new company is the same in name only, it is clear that nothing moved from Pennsylvania to Canada, from the description of the orignal company it is also clear they know nothing about the orignal company and the many things that Caloric brought to consumers.

Looks like some funky rebadge of a Chinese product.

So the question is...

When did Caloric really stop making ranges? I saw this house for sale built in 1997, and it has a late-looking Caloric range. One piece cooktop, electronic oven controls, Ultra Ray broiler, etc. Looks like something you'd see from the late 1990s, but was it really made in 1997 or a leftover stock?

Gas ranges aren't as common as electric here in Fl, and I don't think I've ever seen a Caloric before. Most gas ranges I've seen have been GE or Magic Chef. With newer ones tending to be GE, FD or WP.

Caloric Gas Ranges

Were built till the demise of Maytag, most were branded Amana the last decade of Caloric style Ranges.

It always made me laugh when CRs said the Amana gas range was the one to buy because Caloric had chalked up such a troublesome repair record, when both brands were rolling down the same line and out of the same factory.

Pic #2 is a lot like my mother's former gas range that I bought for her in 1992.  It had the infrared broiler.  I wish I had taken it out when we replaced that range a few years ago.  It was still in great shape and someone I'm sure could have used the burner but I didn't know about this site back then.  Her Caloric worked fine for many years other than going through 3 oven igniters in about 23 years.  The sparkers on the top burners never did light just right.  Half the time if they didn't light after two tries we'd just light them with a long grill lighter.  The only reason we replaced it was the oven controls like in the picture started getting wonky and at the time a new board was almost as much as a new stove.  Hers had a fluorescent light in the panel too.
