Might have to live on cheese and crackers for, oh, thirty years to pay it off.

Hmm, it does have 5 induction burners and two convection ovens. But what else? No oven windows, no clock or timer, no backguard and no cooktop light, for almost $10,000? No thanks. I'd rather have a real Roper Town and Country. And I know I don't care for gas. lol

For 10 grand I'd have a nice big Wolf gas range.

10 Grand for THAT? Forget it-you could buy MANY ranges for the price of this one!No windows in the ovens kills the deal!Or for 10 grand you could just eat out!

$10k??

If you were forced to eat cheese and crackers after buying this --- you would not NEED this...

Perfect for the kitchen set in Desperately Seeking Susan thirty years later...

Roberta Glass will STILL be that unfulfilled housewife, no matter what...

It *is* an Aga ... so there's that.

White, Gloss Black, Matte Black, Ivory, Stainless Steel.

ExclusiveEasy Clean Technology™ ... which apparently means "some" of the oven side panels are removable for cleaning ... it's not pyrolytic self-clean.

Aga?

vacbear58's profile picture
Well it might be branded as Aga but it is not a heat storage cooker in the way than a "true" Aga would be. Essentially its a fancier styled version of what we call a range cooker (farmhouse style) and the styling (which I quite like) has not changed much in at least the last 10 years. But there are dozens of variants of the same here although this is at the larger end of the spectrum at 48"

You can get it for about half the price here and, although I would not pay even that money for it myself, I do rather like it in the indigo :)

Eddie, you said it!

I think the kitchen in our new place was outfitted to impress by someone who did little cooking.  Her choice of Gaggenau's lame "Vario" cooktop and poorly designed oven (there is no stop for the single rack provided, so pull it out too far and it will fall onto the door and the contents will slide down as well -- a major safety hazard that has me wondering how this dangerous oven was even available for sale in the U.S.) reflect this.  The fact that no one here has come to Gaggenau's defense when I've mentioned this pathetic arrangement in the past speaks volumes.

Oh, do I ever miss my 2008 Electrolux Icon range.  Even though the people who bought our old place have given it a necessary gutting, they saved the Icon, presumably to use in their new kitchen.  We received endless compliments on that range, and still do even though it's part of entertaining history now.

Hey Ralph.

Back in the 80s a friend of mine's parents built a home in the Boca Delray Golf Club in Florida. As Jane was showing the house (and she had exquisite taste) we got to the kitchen. Back then Thermador was TOL stuff.
As she showed me the kitchen she told me " I've only used the Microwave. I have no idea how the Wall Ovens work. The dishwasher only has had Cocktail Glasses in it and don't open the SubZero. It's full of Take Out boxes".

They lived there for 3 years and she cooked One Meal there.

Never have really seen Gaggneau anything. They just don't seem to have taken off around here. Maybe there are some in captivity but then again, I only know of one person years ago from Rhode Island that had a Gaggneau Kitchen.

Love my next to BOL Kenmore Electric that is going on 12 years old. Bakes Well and have turned out delicious meals on that stove.

I believe John Le. has said "it's not the appliance that makes the food great it's the person cooking." or something to that effect which is true.

I guess I'll be the contrarian because I quite like the look of that. Very sleek . As to no windows on the oven doesn't bother me as I seldom if ever look in our oven window.

NOT for me

I now do most of my cooking in the oven, and I use my oven's lighted window a great deal.

Even Viking (Canada--Ultraline) now has selfcleaning ovens.

It better come with someone to do the cooking! *LOL*

Impressive bit of kit, if not a bit dear price wise for my tastes.

Apparently there is an entire AGA Mercury range of appliances:

I wonder what the $1000 diff is between the Mercury and Elise models . Look the same except for the knobs.
