This is a little hard to explain. The first season of Hazel was 1961. This morning I caught episode 23 of the first season, Dorothy's Birthday. In a couple of scenes, Hazel walks from the kitchen to her room and in so doing, walks past the open door to the laundry room and in there is the original Duomatic with the knob in the center of the door. As the series went on, the kitchen underwent some equipment changes. Part of this appliance changing was a 1958 Duomatic and a Philco electric range. It's strange that the older combos were featured, even when the American Gas Association was taking credit for the kitchen appliances.

So after reading your post I pulled season 1 DVD of Hazel off the shelf and watched that episode Tom. It turns out that in the middle of the show they do show the original Bendix, but at the end of the show it appears the Bendix was replaced with an O'keefe & Merritt combo! I have no idea what brand the wall oven is...

The oven is probably OK&M, too. All I noticed in the second shot of the combo was that it was no longer on the wall opposite the door. Not having the possibility of freezing the frame, I did not notice anything more than a big white machine. Notice that the door has disappeared or been rehung. Thanks for the detective work and stay warm.

Yes, that's an O&M wall oven.  Almost exact to our 1960/1961 O&M wall oven in our house, except the oven temperature knob is different.

The reason is

That episode is actually the pilot episode.

Be that as it may, it is episode 23 in the line up for the first season.

In later episodes, a top loading Philco washer and matching dryer were in the laundry room. Rarely seen, but for quick glimpses, but they are unmistakable. Never a close up shot but I think they were around 1962 middle line models. Definitely not "Miss Americas".

Then when Hazel moved into the last season with "Mr. Steve" and Miss Barbara (along with that awful whiny daughter they had), I recall copper tone Maytags.

Anyone notice the fake bird in the kitchen?

Didn’t see the fake bird, but that wall phone most certainly is not ADA compliant! Blanche Hudson would never have been able to reach that from her chair!

There are many things that can be noticed with the ability to freeze the frame that you cannot see in regular viewing on the TV, especially items in the background. In the case of the dueling combos, the property managers probably counted on that.  All eyes were on the cake and even with my eagle eye for appliances, I did not see what Robert found when he froze the frame.

Because my mom always had a canary in the kitchen and because I used to raise them and had over 100 birds and still have one today, I noticed that fake bird immediately. Mrs Lewis  of "I Love Lucy" fame had one too. You could see it when she practiced her "come-hither look" on Ricky..."Miss Lewis, are you having an attack?". Fun stuff.

Think I saw TOL (push button) Tags in the kitchen of the Steve (wimp) Baxter household. They sit opposite the refer behind a knee wall. Dryer is on the left.
