What a neat find!

Those trays were used in the middle of the line model of the GE 18.8 Spacemaker which my mother would not have because of the small aluminum strip just under the freezer drawer handle which she thought looked too modern. We had the same mishagas with the star pattern Textolite top of our first Mobile Maid. The stupid communication skills of the salesperson and Rich's service department could not ascertain if the metal was removable, which it was, so we wound up with the BOL box. Anyway, the ice shelf of the freezer was different for all three models. The MOL shelf had a channel running from front to back with the trays lined up on the right parallel with the front and back of he box and the handles in the channel. On the other side of the channel was the white plastic ice cube storage pan positioned with the indentation on the side facing the channel. With the handle in the channel, the ice cube trays were merely lifted up and over the ice cube storage pan where the cubes were dispensed. When the tray was returned to its horizontal position, a pitched of water dould refill the tray with no carrying it from freezer to sink.
