Looking at the Maytag coin-op ad got me to wondering. Did anyone here ever own/run a self-service laundry in the 1960s-1980s time frame, and if so what were the most popular brands of top-loading washers actually used, and how profitable were they? Thanks.

Part way through 5th grade a new student came to our class and somehow there was a vacant seat in front of me. His father was a Baptist minister and in the town where they had lived prior to moving to our garden spot, he owned a Mary Maytag coin laundry with all pink machines to augment the family income.
