But Paul where are you ever going to find another DW with a panel light ?

I had a NEW Duel-Drench Tappan, and it was surly the worst cleaning-performing DW I have EVER used, yes I am sorry I threw it away and I would love to see you get one Paul.

Our neighbors had one

Our neighbors across the street had one.  I always thought it was cool the way she used that panel light as a nightlight in the kitchen.  I suspect she did too.  I remember her saying something to the affect of "it uses Rubber Bands to wash the dishes."  That was very confusing to a little kid who had a dishwasher fascination.

A few years back I was home and visited with her.  I asked her if she remembered that dishwasher and her response was, I got rid of that piece of XXXX when I redid the kitchen.  She always had "colorful" language as my Mom put it.  She didn't speak highly of it.

She was the cool Mom in the neighborhood.  She married a man many years older and was always fun.  She would pile all of us into her station wagon with the wood on the side and off we'd go to an amusement park or something.

Tappan Reversa Jet Model 61-0035

Getting ready to clean and remove this Tappan Reversa Jet out of a house. Apparently they haven’t used it for years. Have been using it for storage. Drain was disconnected from garbage disposal when new one was installed. Will be connecting it to see if it still washes and drains since it does make noise like it is coming on when I pull out the control knob. Will update later. Excellent condition as I’m finding while cleaning it.

What a find! A gorgeous machine!! That is my dream machine.

Consumer Reports said it "washed perfectly." They indicated they did not give it a "Check Rating" (meaning highest quality and value) because its powerful jets beneath the upper rack sometimes toppled glassware. They still put it in the top group of dishwashers, labeled as highest overall quality,

The lower rack with the spring-loaded reversing (aka, the Reversa-Jet) feature was on all models. However, only the Top-Of-the-Line model also had the reversing feature on the upper wash arm as well.

The Reversa-Jet had nice amenities for a 1965 machine. All models had a self-latching door and self-cleaning fine particle filter. The folding rack partitions and console light were also found on upper models. Tappan described the filter as normally self-cleaning, but put a handle on the top of it (as seen in the picture) that allowed it to be easily pulled out should it need attention.
