There's nothing particularly special about that spring and I believe it remained unchanged in all SOH models from 1976 until 2006. Unless it has been severely compromised, like being stretched far beyond its limitations or exposed to extreme heat, it should be just fine.

You can find plenty of these dryer designs on craigslist for next to nothing if not free. Grab one and tear it down for parts.

Match it up at a hardware store.

Keeping A MT DE 409 Dryer Running Forever

I would also stock a spare motor, timer, heater, inner plastic door panel, the plastic lint filter housing, the idler pulley and shaft, front bearing slides, and extra drum for when the coating wears off in the front bearing area, rear rollers and shafts, lint filter, if you have all these parts available you should be able to keep this dryer going at least another 20 years.

The last thing you will ever need is an idler tension spring, [ I have never seen one fail in my 40+ years fixing MT dryers ], but I will gladly sell you good used ones at $15 each + shipping, how many do you want.

I have a spare motor, 2 spare timer motors, idler pulley and shaft, rear rollers and shafts, and a lint filter.

I am lacking those those plastic pieces you mention and a spare drum and slides although mine are in good condition. Where would I find them?

I also have a spare heater already restrung and a tube with some spare insulators etc. And several blower wheels because those seem to break regularly where they are clamped and get noisy.

I'll take some of your springs, let me know where to Paypal. I've recently added enough parts that I can keep this thing going 100 years.
