Did we ever get a response to the person who bounced in here asking about this product? That is whether or not it was a true "Bold" detergent or some sort of counterfeit?

Shan't ever find out am afraid; am not paying that kind of money for a box of detergent. Those days are over... Can get a two huge boxes of Persil for same price which to my mind is a far superior product.

I don't know if it was really truly Bold or not, but after that other thread appeared, I was hitting Big Lots for a while because they had it cheap, and it was truly HE -- no oversudsing in the Affinity.

After we moved last year and adopted the Neptune stacking pair that was already here, and since I can use pretty much any detergent I want, I stopped making a special trip for Bold Tropical Orchard.  I don't know it it's still available at Big Lots or not.

That price is CRAZY! I agree with you Laundress. Recently bought a small bottle of original Persil, cleans well but forgot how strong the scent lingers....boy, oh boy, it's strong. Can't imagine the Intense version. Persil reminds me of Pinsol.

My Big Lots is gone! According to the sign on the shuttered store, the nearest one is half a day's ride away. I guess my brief affair with them is over. Sic transit Gloria (Gloria throws up on car trips).

I wonder if that Bold was an exercise in P&G sub-contracting production to a third party?

I say that, because (and this was mentioned previously in the saga of Bold Tropical Orchard thread) of "Ariel, Introducing A+".

I managed to get my mitts on a 675g packet. It is made by Blue Sun of Spain, for the Scandinavian market, and had the Nordic Swan Ecolabel. It also purports to be mild fragrance.

ARIEL INTRODUCING A+ (NORDIC SWAN ECOLABEL)
Ingredienser:
SODIUM CARBONATE
ZEOLITE
SODIUM CARBONATE PEROXIDE
SODIUM CHLORIDE
TRIDECETH-8
TAED
SODIUM STEARATE, SODIUM PALMITATE
TRIDECETH-3
CELLULOSE GUM
TRISODIUM DICARBOXYMETHYL ALANINATE
SODIUM SILICATE
PARFUM
SUBTILISIN
ALPHA AMYLASE
LIPASE
MANNANASE
CELLULASE
PECTATE LYASE

It seems to have six enzymes.

I will say that not all of it flushed out of the powder drawer; a couple of blobs remained.

It was low foam (virtually non-existent) during cold washing. As the temperature rose to 40°C, controlled gentle suds appeared.

But perhaps best of all, no smell/scent/fragrance. I don't think I have ever had a detergent which hasn't created some type of a scent whilst washing in the machine.

For the first time in about 15 years, Ariel has impressed me - but it's not made by P&G.

"this scent has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is near the point of extinction"

Suppose this is the sellers "justification" for this silly price.

Now this is where'd I kill to check the scent of this product to see if it's the same as the scent we have in pretty much the exact same box here in the U.K. under the "sparking bloom and yellow poppy" variant - because if it is we have masses a plenty and I see a business opportunity coming on ;p

And I could offer liquids, pods, gel and that's not to mention powder and of course other scents too if required and not even mentioning it's a 2in1 (yes never rivals separates but still).

I wouldn't be as mean as to charge $60 a box though.

If I was rich I'd be buying some now just to check the scent out. But I've recently had a massive haul of detergents from France and Germany so I need to behave.

My Big Lots still has it!!!!!  I have a new box under the Miele right now waiting to be poured into the scooping container.  We use it on whites since the bleach has a tendency to make other detergents over suds.  I don't know the actual source, but it says P&G and it cleans very well.
