More than fifty years ago, when I was in the small Georgia Power Company branch store in our neighborhood, I saw a beautiful Westinghouse buffet range (hotplate) on a glass shelf. It had a beautiful 6 inch Corox unit in the middle of a chrome top. In the lower righthand corner was a beautiful infinite switch with a knob from a range surface unit. The cabinet is finished in a soft brown. So that was 50 years ago and I still remember how much of an impression it made on me. Last weekend, I was playing in that radioactive playground called eBay and found one of them, unused in the box. It has a slightly different knob and the 1000 watt Corox unit is a newer thinner tube design. So, once again, an appliance dream has come to fruition. No doubt cooking on it would pit and ruin the chrome top, but I was not planning to use it anyway.

I remember my mom had a beautiful (glass, steel, wood) Salton hot tray for keeping buffet food warm (but not for cooking). Looked like it belonged in MOMA in NYC.

Looked like this:

Salton had some wonderful designers; must have been Scandinavian influenced.
