While on the subject of small 2wd trucks,Will tell about mine incase anyone is thinking about one:07 Canyon,2.9 4cyl.,5 spd SL (base model)Great little commuter truck,i would buy another right away if something happened to this one :)
-yrs 04-12
-earlier models,~04,05,known for valve guide problems
-manual transmission made by Aisin
-mine wheighed in at 3420
-2.9 l,185 HP@5600 RPM
My only minor dislike about the truck is the "throttle by wire"seems to get comfused a little by certain throttle manuvers and can set up a goofy bucking motion...Also will sometime pull back throttle right after you boot it then resume desired throttle opening.
134,000 mi,totally reliable over 4 yrs I have had it except thermostat failed in open position.

My neighbors brother had a basic Canyon with over 200K and no major problems. My Silverado will be 6 years old in June and zero problems. I would definitely consider a Colorado or Canyon next. My old Silverado just rotted out after 19 years but still ran and drove just fine. Been burned by Ford, Toyota and Dodge and would never buy another.

Its a shame Mazda doesnt import trucks anymore. My 1984 B2200 diesel has 186k and still starts right up, hardly ever gives trouble, doesnt leak or burn any oil, and still gets 38MPG. I would buy a new one in a heart beat. Next one will be a Toyota, just as good.

The new Colorado and Canyon are available in diesel!  That's what I want.

1 improvement made

factory radio-AM/FM,sounded pretty bad,so swapped the original ~5" thin style speakers for some 6"pincushion style GM delco speakers of unknown original application and problem fixed-sound plenty decent for a commuter truck now :)
