If you want the washer to heat the wash water select the temp and then turn the wash dial to the required time when it has reached the temp you selected the heat switch returns to off and the wash starts.
You may want to get some vial in it too and get rid of the limescale around the wash tub. Some one may have a user manual I know I don't and I have the exact model I use when the mood takes me. When you want to rinse spin return the suds and turn on the rinse water and let it rinse until the water runs clear, personally when I do my wash in it I empty the wash tub refill with warm water and fabric softener and rinse everything in that which ensures no soap gets left in the clothes after a good spin they do not take long to dry lovely machines just very low down...
