My in-laws had this in gleeming black...
So, aging took its toll, the refrigeratior’s refrigerating and freezing ability, along with the capability of the proper working of the electriconics... The obvious replacement was a newer, and somewhat simpler Whirlpool, sans the door-mounted snack bin and that digital readout flanking the dispensers... — Dave |

A well built ref that could have a long life, major weak points were short lived defrost heaters, clogged defrost drains and expensive to operate.
Models built before 1991 all had bad compressors and even after the new compressor and condenser was installed these refs often had other sealed system problems.

I had this under the Kenmore brand....
bought it in 1988, ran flawless for 23 years, in fact still running in my brothers garage.... the tubes for the water/ice started to dry rot and crack...replacements were really expensive....so I opted for the Whirlpool 30cuft to replace it.... given a choice, I wanted another just like it one thing I miss is the capacity of the ice maker |
